Part#6: The Bible was Written by God

Skeptics claim that the Bible was written by men, not God. But the fact is, God wrote the 66 books of the Bible over a 1500 year period using 44 authors as His writing utensils. As a result, the entire content of the Bible is literally the Word of God.

It would be accurate to describe the different styles of each author as different types of writing utensils. Some were pencils, pens, and markers, while others were crayons. But whichever utensil was used, it was God who did the writing.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3: 16-17).

Besides being supernaturally accurate in its historical and scientific facts, the Bible also shows itself to be the literal Word of God with its proclamation and fulfillment of prophesy. The Bible has foretold future events hundreds of times and each time the events have come true.

A 100% fulfillment rate is God’s standard. That is why if someone claimed to be a prophet of God in the Old Testament but failed in a single prophesy; it was clear that he was a fake, and the penalty for being a false prophet was death.

“'But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.'

"And if you say in your heart, 'How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?' when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him” (Deuteronomy 18: 20 – 22).

From the rise and fall of empires like the Babylonians, Persians, Alexander the Great, and the Romans, to the over 200 Messianic prophesies in the Old Testament that could have only been fulfilled by Jesus Christ, the Bible has shown itself to be 100% accurate in its proclamation and fulfillment of prophesy. This of course is what we would come expect from a book that was written by the only one who knows the entire timeline of history, past, present, and future, Almighty God.

“Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit” (2 Peter 1: 20-21).

God has even prophesied concerning the origins debate

“knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation" (2 Peter 3: 3 – 4).

This is a clear reference to uniformitarianism, which as you know is the faith-based philosophy that is used by modern science to try to interpret present evidence to support the theory of evolution.

“For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water (the creation event), by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water (Noah’s flood)” (2 Peter 5 – 6) (Explanation added)

According to God’s word, the scoffers that were promised to come in the last days would deny that God created the universe as well as deny that the global flood of Noah’s day had actually happened. Sound familiar?

In conclusion, the Bible is the only book that has not only been confirmed by science and historical records, but also proven by prophesy. All other religious books fall short.

As the evidence demonstrates, the only logical conclusion is that the Bible is the only book that has ever been written by God Himself.
